My sponsoring

Being a volunteer, I decided also to sponsor one kid. Sponsoring, in this case, means sending 15 dollars every month, which is used for the students, their uniforms, books, pencils, notebooks and also for teachers salary.

I asked Shamser to find a sponsor kid for me. Of course, it was not difficult, kids are a lot and new sponsors are still needed. So after my request, I went to visit “my little boy”, Anmol. This 3,5 years old boy is a big personality. I noticed he is a bit sick, so we decided to come one more time the other day. I only asked what he would like to get from me. And he said a school bus. I hiked down to Besisahar and bought a car toy, ball, notebooks and pencils. Also candies, chocolate and biscuits.

The following day I came to his house again. The smiling cheeky boy was looking at me as alien, blue eyes, fair hair and pale skin are not common in Nepal and this boy lives far from the school so he did not see too many volunteers yet. I gave him the bag with all the gifts and he was amazed. He asked his mom to open the biscuit pack. It was a pack of ten small crackers about 2cm times 2cm. He took the first cookie with his small dirty fingers and ate it. Then he took another one, ate only half and the rest he put to my mouth. I was so impressed, I could not hide my tears. He did the same with the chocolate. A small chocolate bar and he wanted to share with me. I took it but put it back in his bag because I knew they are very poor and this boy doesn't have chocolate as often as I can. It was so emotional. It was too hard to not cry. Before I left I got the most powerful hug and kiss ever.

So if you have enough for yourself, try sometimes to share also with others. It is not only about money, but we can also share our positive energy, smile and our inner happiness. Instead of wasting food in the bin, buy less for yourself and share the rest with hungry people. Instead of keeping the wardrobe full of never worn clothes, give them to the people who not only desire but deeply need.

If you have - share!
